Chain drive maintenance

If you’re using 70mm wheels your build must be very similar to my build’s first iteration…

You’ll soon see you need bigger, softer wheels

I wouldn’t call it similar but close enough xD

(close enough as in using different components e.g. batteries, esc, deck etc)

Yeah sorry, I meant our drive-trains…

I know this is an old post, but would chain drive be the best option for a rain board? Live in the PNW and looking to ride year round.

So for rain you’ve got two things running against each other.

with water you want a waterproof grease to protect from rust.

But grease has the issue of attracting dust and dirt which a chain doesn’t like.

Normally on a chain you try and use a dry lube, but a dry lubes tend to be for dry conditions and wash off in water.

Its probably the wrong application.

Hmmmm… How would it be any different than a bike/motorcycle? I know belts have a higher risk of braking in wet conditions. I’ll have to read more lol. Thanks for the reply

use a wax on the chain…

I use a spray wax on my chain drive… Works a treat if it gets wet and it doesn’t tend to attract debris… :+1:

That’s what I was thinking. I live 1.5 miles from work, so I skate/bike year round. Rains alot here. Just got my first eboard, now I wanna build my own. But I want something I can ride in the 8 months a year it rains. Plus 20mph max seems slow…

Do you have a build on here for your chain drive board?

Sure… It’s changed a bit since then…
