DIY OneWheel Motor Making Popping Noises

I’m building a DIY OneWheel using a FSESC 75100 and Pei Scooter hub motor. I’ve configured everything in the VESC tool and am using the float package for balance. However, when I tilt the board forward, the motor starts spinning and then making a loud popping noise. I’m not sure if this is a hardware problem with the motor or ESC or something I can change in software. See the attached video so you can see what I’m talking about. I don’t want to do anything that will damage the hardware. This motor has always done this out of the box so I think it might be a software issue. When I run the FOC wizard it spins just fine.

I swear the zip is not sketchy. Just a video of the motor shaking.
