First E-Board build on a low budget!

I found this printed wheel pulley on eBay, and it’s a good deal! My problem is I was planning on ordering some knockoff 83mm flywheels for my build, and I don’t think this pulley will fit them, will it?

If not, what is another pulley you’d recommend? I’ve seen the aluminum ones from DIYElectricSkateboard and sites of the sort, but I’m trying to keep the cost low. Could anyone link me the correct pulley and hardware for flywheels on sdp-si or another site? I wouldn’t mind drilling the right holes.

I don’t know how long it will last…

Go with an aluminum one; sometimes cutting corners on crucial parts like this will screw you over in the end.

Any way to drill holes in a stick aluminum pulley?

I like to use a drill! Hahaha

And you’d have to tap threads as well.

Obvi, but how do you get it to be aligned perfectly?

Make a jig and use a drill press.

For that I’d use a tap!

I don’t even tap mine. I just put the nut on the outside of the wheel.

could you link me to the pulley you use? I have a friend with a drill press that should be able to do it!

If I were to use this charger: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__58285__IMAX_B6AC_V2_Professional_Balance_Charger_Discharger.html to charge two 3s 5000mAh batteries wired in series using this: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_10264__XT60_Harness_for_2_Packs_in_Series_1pc.html (I was reading a build, and he used these two cables, however I believe I dont need them since the charger I am getting, the IMAX B6AC, will balance it already, correct?) http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_9910__2_x_3S_gt_6S_Splitter_JST_XH_5pcs_bag.html http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_9739__JST_XH_Wire_Extension_6S_20cm_10pcs_bag.html

As far as wiring, What other cables will I need to connect to the ESC, and for a charging port?

you will need all of those except maybe the extension, but it wouldn’t hurt to have it either. I use an extension because i like my charger to sit a bit further away from my battery.

Will I need any additional wires to connect to the ESC or anything, or am I set with these?

that should do it. just be careful with the splitter. I like to cut the red wire out of the middle pin because its unnecessary and easy to short.

actually in the past I have been known to even cut one of the sockets in half on an extension to give the same result.

not the best picture sorry… you can almost see what I mean by cutting the extension socket.

especially if you gotta buy a bag of 10. then you got some splitters and some extensions!

Hey thanks for the help! Gonna order it now!

I’m curious why everyone reccomends the VESC so much. They can only support 50A continuous, so isn’t that going to be incompatible with the motor?

The VESC was designed specifically for eboards, so the amp rating compared to car esc’s is a little skewed.

To be honest, I’ve never heard of a VESC not working with any motor that is commonly used for eboards… besides trying to use a high KV (like 200+) motor on 12s.

Agh well that’s my problem. I plan on making a dual drive 230kV motor setup with a 6S battery. Would the VESC be sufficient with this setup? Thanks! Looks like you’re helping me in a few posts today haha.

Rest in peace to my wallet for those SDP-SI and HobbyKing Shipping prices hahaha
