Agree with above. We haven’t even heard what you want to do with the board nor what type of terrain you’re planning on tackling.
Just an example. I’ve got an 8 inch trampa, but found out for the second time now that it actually does not offer enough clearance for off-roading where I live. Need 9 inch for more security.
Gear drive is almost maintenence free btw. Drove my current drive train more than 3000 km without doing anything other than changing tires and oiling the gears. I’d say diy is maintenance friendly, because you can fix most of it yourself and get the parts. Some of the pre-made boards use proprietary escs and other parts that are hard to come by or simply not sold separately.
