Linear or logarithmic potentiometer, and in what Ohm range?

I’m building a device (not actually a Skateboard) using the following board… https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B01M0XABRL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00

…and this motor… https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07Q75BCQJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00

I am using the Hall sensor connectors for control.

Of course, I’d like the motor to be able to run at full RPMs (at 36v), but I’d also like to have the motor run smoothly, and adjust speed smoothly, at very low RPMs.

I was planning on using a three wire POT, attached to Hot, Ground, and VR.

Should I use a linear or logarithmic potentiometer - and in what Ohm range?

Thanks!
