I’ve used that type of connector with speaker wire before. I think it’s just friction holding together two pieces. You should be able to to pull apart this connection with a little wiggling

Am I missing something. Just unplug the wires. But if you don’t know how to unplug wires maybe you should not me messing with it.
I would just cut the wires and solder them together.
