Ride riptide R1 elite/full makeover

1533957802145834789578 Haha, easy. At least I don’t have to drive to work. It’s just gotta last a bit longer. Just until I get all my parts and put together a real esk8 build.

Haha, I miss riding this thing even if it could be worlds better. Took the long way to work. I’ll have to charge between locations tonight.

Man… this board is just falling apart. I feel bad even telling my wife when things go wrong on it. I know she feels like she shouldn’t have got it for me. I love the gift but come on. Can tell trucks are bending again.

So… Things are coming for this board. New SR tkp trucks, @psychotiller mounts, kyde for new enclosure, 10s5p battery (thanks @J0ker3366) 97mm abec 11 wheels all ordered and on their way. Might have to transfer to a different deck. Hoping this will keep this board going a bit longer and improve the overall feel. Next purchase (not for a few months) will be new motors and upgrading to focbox or just a better esc In general. (Maybe I’ll get my hands on a unity and can put that on the hummie deck and steal the focboxes off it) After that I’ll have a pile of parts that are basically a complete riptide r1.lol

Shipping on these trucks took forever… And my bearings and axles were missing. The box was hammered… @Sender think you could shoot them a email? (Under the impression you are in contact with them, if not nvm) They never respond to mine…

Anyway they look great. Unfortunately my 16t pullys are MIA. Think I sent them to someone by accident. Thinking I’ll stick with 36t wheel pullys until I find a 10s battery (that 10s5 isn’t gonna work out) So I’ll need shorter belt as I bought 275 for 16/40t set up. 0514698b48ecf6429a30c15a8cb8aba492e663b4_1_666x500 dac3d2580cc889e08825ab78bdf74b63b91ef46a_1_375x500 3e89d3ea6e97e4f6d194c3f275a372c8aa131d6e_1_375x500 I pushed the wheels out about a 1/4 from where that sat before. Definitely getting wheel bite now so ill have to adjust some things. Especially for the 97mm wheel on the way. The @psychotiller tkp mounts fit great. I’ll probably be ordering pullys from him tonight.

I may have an extra set of 90s on the way. Hoping they make it before the move lol.

I’ve got 90mm on there now

@Skunk is that your customization on the griptape or riptide? either way it looks DOPE! Also why don’t you just order some bkb mounts and trucks and be done with it? It woud be a cool backup board once you have your main board running anyway. You should check out skate metric on youtube, they made a riptide clone with lipos and TB vescs and it serves its purpose pretty well

I did. First thing I tried. Dont fit 50xx motors Plus Precision trucks or bust I’ve got focboxes for my hummie deck. And a unity ordered. So the unity will end up on the hummie and the focboxes will be swapped to this.

The grip is art by TheArtOfSkinner, super cool artist definitely check him out. They do a few of his art pieces on grip that you can buy on Ebay . https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Mob-Skinner-Assorted-Skateboard-Griptape-9in-x-33in-1-Sheet/322502778872?epid=837798581&hash=item4b16a9dff8:g:vLQAAOSwONBZCPnr

Oh @mmaner I’m in love with these SR tkp tucks… I’ve only gotten to roll around in the parking lot with them but holy crap they’re so Carvey.

Haha she’s alive. Realized the bolt on 40t pullys I had were slightly bigger then the 40t press fit pullys I got from @JLabs. I intended to use them on the hummie deck but though since there’s some trouble shooting with them and RKP SR truck, maybe I should try them on TKP. Well, they work great on the TKP. Was easy getting tillers mounts lined up with jlabs pullys. I had to double up on risers in the back and wheel bite is still possible. I’ll have to get some rock hard bushings in the reat room Ripetide sports. The 97mm wheels might not work after all… 15375144567524127208898243401907 So much room for more motor… 6354…6369 maybe @psychotiller  I’ll take her all apart again tomorrow and lock tight all the things

Had some 97a venom bushings laying around in my parts box. Also have some 95a if these are to much. Tossed them on the back in Hope of getting rid of this wheel bite. Also swapped out two of the rear risers that came with the riptide for an angled one. (On the front too) Both angled forward for more control out of the front and less movement on the back. Finally no wheel bite with the 90mm. We will see what happens with the 97mm. Took everything apart and applied lock tight and put back together again. Now to wait… 20180921_162431_1537572281256 20180921_162402_1537572293191 20180921_135311_1537572336058

Think i need to buy a hardware kit.

Need motor hardware and just spares in general.

How do you check if the trucks are bending? I bought this same kit from diyeboard and this is daunting…

When i leaned my board up against a wall with the rear truck facing up i could tell something wasn’t right. And my pully/belt on one side would not stay lined up at all.

thanks for the tip. Planning to upgrade mine to avoid that issue. Do you have links to the parts you upgraded/replaced?
