simply because I don’t own one and I have 10 mini remotes that needed this mod ><.
I guess it’s also because there’s already a few existing mods on the forums. Whereas for the mini remote, there’s only a couple that i’ve seen so far, and this one’s the most promising so far.
I’ll let it pass this time…
.STL files have been uploaded, link in the first post. Item List has been added.
To do:
- Instructions write-up
- Add in URL of item list.
Added it to OP.
Also, more pictures:
I gotta say the blue gloves… Mmmmmm.
Also I don’t think a GT2B can get this small. I use GT2B and have designed a case for it, thumb style.
My hands were all black and dirty, the blue gloves are to hide em
Got the test prints from Jeff, time to work my magic.
If you guys plan to do this mod once it’s complete, i recommend checking out my thread on how to finish 3D prints.
That might reduce the lifetime of the device.
Filling and sanding the cases. The logo was a bit harder to sand so a craft knife and a flat needle file would be great.
Long version added - Removed my logo cause I couldn’t get it to look good on the long version ):
Will probably work on the instructions this weekend.
Primed and ready for paint!
Awesome work Excited to try it out
I gotta ask, how much time to get to that level?
Err…! I worked on three at a time and i’d say i spent about 5 hours to get all surfaces smooth with the body filler. Then a coat of primer to bring out any imperfections the eye can’t see before spray. Then i wet sand with 400 grit, and one more coat of primer. Add them all up, it should take no longer than half a day for one remote. That is, if you want to get it really smooth, but it’s purely for aesthetics.
Would you accept a suggestion on the shape of the remote?
I’d love to see something similar than the APS remote:
But if it’s similar, what’s the point of doing it? haha
