Those who've crashed, what wrist guards helped or hurt?

Someone pointed out in a Facebook thread that the way downhillers crash is typically a bit different. According to that fellow, downhillers generally have the board go out from under them whereas ES8ers tend to fly forwards off the board. I’ve never done downhill, so I can’t say if that is accurate, but I thought it was interesting.

Pucks > wrist gauds for street

Wrist guards = off roading

Oops I’m repeating myself…

This is so interesting. All my eskate crashes I think I’ve gone over the front. There’s one big one I don’t remember (helmet on and all). A few remote glitches threw me off the front. Hit a manhole, off the front, fishtail turning/braking in rain, off the front. Not gone off the side or to the rear yet.

For non-powered I’m a flatlander, no DH, and most of my falls were off the front too.

I went flying forward on my last fall, by way of speed wobbles going downhill at 40 kph on a LY dinghy. Slide gloves saved my hands and wrists as I landed on my palms first and dissipated a lot of energy with my arms. Only tore up my sleeve and got some rash on my hip.
