18650 10s3p battery for the Village Build - Update 10s4p

I’ve got 30 18650 cells on the way thanks to our organized group-buy. Big ups to everyone who joined, and to @JLabs for organizing the buy!

I’m going to make a 10s3p pack. This will give me 7500mah at 10s, increasing the range of my current build by 50%, and I’ll have a plug-and-play charging solution, so I’ll be able to ride longer and more often. Here’s my original build thread

I’m curious to see whether I’ll notice much of a bump in power going from 8s to 10s. Acceleration is already very good on this build!

Here’s a parts list:

Cells (30 of them):

Charger: Lithium Ion Battery Charger Li-ion LiPo 10S 42V 2A for 36V 37V Wall Socket AC DC

Battery Trays:

Power Switch:

-the BMS I chose is wired for a power switch, so I just need to connect one of these

Voltage meter or Coulometer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2016-Battery-Capacity-Tester-Indicator-for-12V-24v-36v-48v-CAR-Lead-acid-lithium/172143986261?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Dc15551bc7aaa4c58b0d860a219d62251%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D18%26sd%3D331508332778

Sweet project… I’m excited to see all your guys battery builds!

DIY eSk8 getting advanced… WooT!

Thx @torqueboards! Notice that big “?” in the power switch section? Anything to suggest?

Have you looked at the battery meter I linked in my build thread… Its cheaper… Only shows battery percent (All I Need)

thanks @JLabs I thought it might be cool to have the extra input that the coulometer can provide… but as I think about it, I won’t really be able to see any of that info while I’m riding, so maybe it doesn’t make much sense to use it… it’s also huge!

Haha yeah, we don’t want any distracted riding

Ya after more thought I decided I really only need this guy, and it shaves $30 from the build cost. Thanks @JLabs!

Here’s my power switch! Anyone have a better idea?

Since you’re helping me a lot, will send you one of those for free if you like:

Contains a replaceable fuse, it’s a modified version of the Vedder anti spark power switch.

thats dope, How much can i pay for one?

yeah i want one too.

You can find them in my shop on esk8.de in the electronics section. It contains a 40a replaceable fuse, but you could add any other fuse as well and the connector for the fuse is very tight, so no danger of loosing it due to vibrations. I’m manufacturing them here locally.

Oh hell ya @elkick that’s what I’m talking about! Thanks this solves all of my problems! I’ll PM you!

Looks awesome I didn’t know anyone sold the Vedder anti spark yet… I’ll be checking it out!!

Me too. How much shipped to the USA?

That power switch, but a bit pricey to me. I like the looks of the diy switch better personally, but its cool that you fit a fuse on there (something the diy one is missing). Great work!

I know it’s not the cheapest solution especially compared with DiY anti spark XT90, but that’s based on my local manufacturing costs (German labor is rather expensive) and 2 years warranty I have to provide.

Shipment to US is 12.50€ and should take around 5 working days.

Yea I may just make an anti spark switch instead. I generally use AC breakers on on off switches anyway lol. I’m cheap

I’m considering this option for a battery charger, although only charges at 2A it’s also smaller and lighter (and reduces the build cost by $25 or so).
