18650 higher discharge rating replacement safe?

The current cells in the battery used are the Samsung 25R @20A 2500mAh. I’m thinking about replacing them with Murata VTC5D @25A 2700mAh. These cells have a higher capacity that I know will not be a problem but will the higher discharge rating cause any damages?

should be ok

Nice, thanks. I figured that but wanted to make sure. i’m curious to see how many miles per hour it would increase with a higher discharge rating.

1% maybe.

If you want more speed change gearing?

It seems like having a higher discharge rating would provide a noticeable increase in power to the motors but it might just be regulated out by the VSC.

A higher rated (fully charged) cell will perform exactly the same as a lower rated cell unless two things happen:

  1. You change the ESC settings

  2. The new pack runs on the same settings as the old, in which case, it will trigger the low voltage cut off later than the lower rated pack. (This also assumes the capacity of the higher rated discharge is also higher)
