Hey guys, im going to build my first battery pack.
Have seen some designs and layouts. Because its going to be a city cruiser with a quite small board, i don’t want a thick case.
I have found the mboards design to fit quite well by outer dimension, but im not sure if this design is so optimized. What i see as potential danger is a short circuit between the two big sides.
Below i have drawn 2 designs, one is the mboard, the other one is how i would do it.
Apreciate ur input guys, if there are better designs im all ears.
I’m using Samsung 50s cells (5000mah, 35A sensored at 80°C/176F) in 3p config, so 105A max output.
Tho it is a city cruise, so i wont be taking that power for more than 10 seconds.
Planned on either use 2x7mm pure nickel stripes or 2x10 pure nickel stripes and to connect the p’s i will use either 10 or 12awg wires.
The snake layout can be better but you also need to consider balance wire routing. Also, a lot of folks don’t like the main output wires coming out on different ends of the battery.
And a significant fraction of folks just don’t like anything that isn’t symmetrical. Just because.
