i went on the discord and someone said that maytech vesc may have not updated to the new vesc tool but i am trying to find a way to get a prev version vesc tool, but i cannot find it.

My Maytech VESC`s came without the bootloader installed which lead to the same result you have. Try to install the bootloader with the VESCtool, after that your vesc will update to the latest firmware.
