Powering VESC to program

So I feel like an idiot asking this question… I got my build second-hand, so after assembly, it was ready to ride. So I didn’t have to get into the VESC. However, now I want to at least see settings. I’ve got VESC Tool 2.06, and a Flipsky FSV6.6. Do I need to power the VESC (I’ve read what seems like conflicting info)? If so, how do I do that?

We’ve all been there. It’s already powered through your battery, so all you need is a data-capable USB micro cable. If you only want to check settings/get a feel for it, avoid the wizards.

Ok. I kinda thought that, but wasn’t sure if it should be powered up like that or not. Thx.
