Show me your top mount battery

The battery enclosure looks almost as good as mine.

I love the thin ESC enclosure!

Guessing from the wires, it must hold the controllers… I don’t see phase wires coming from the big enclosure.

Damn this rounded enclosure is so beaútiful  would like to touch it

I think another important point in general is the weight of the battery. I’m also planning a 12s Li-ion between 5-7p but I’m not sure about the weight. I remember reading about people which didn’t like the weight of a e.g 12s8p while riding on MTB. Would be interesting to hear some opinions about that.

@anorak234 you battery must weight at least 7kg with enclosure, do you feel any disadvantage?

Yes definitely. I do like light boards as it fits to my riding style. Maximum acceptable for me is 12S 8AH packs.

dual VESC. Remember that was back in 2015 when I was using dual VESC 4 HW4.18. Both VESC are stacked.

You know that davega is going right on top!

this one was even lighter. I forgot to mention that @Nowind was already delivering top notch stuff back in 2015 !

I’m working on a top box (for battery) for an upcoming freestyle mountainboard project, if anyone serious wants to partner to limit the R&D cost, shoot me a PM !

It’s definitely super heavy. I took it off road when I had mountain tires on it and it was noticeable.

It works for my needs though, I like long range carving and so the weight isn’t a bother for my everyday ride. That being said, I put caster wheels on the back of the board and a handle on the front to move it because picking it up is a pain.

All these square battery boxes are making me start to consider Lipos. Uh oh

Personally i have to have an 8p pack bc i have to lol. Im big 6’5" 270lbs and in order for the ride to be enjoyable i draw a lot of amps. Which gives me less range and bc i have an 8p ive avoided alot of Volt sag. Its dang heavy, but i made a carry handle. I wish i could afford to have a smaller pack for a lighter board, i def see the advantages. But as i stated, im big so i can deal with the weight plus my carry handle. I can push in front or carry behind. I like the handle being on the motor end because theres no drag or noise when you carry 20181227_105510 20181006_133718

You print that?

Me?? No, aluminum. Cut, shaped, drilled and bent then painted20180923_075613 20180923_120053 20180923_12240620180923_125106 it was really hard to bend bc its sooo thick, but it holds everything super well. Hella sturdy and some extra motor protection.

Those of you who are keeping your batteries and escs together:

What are you doing about extending motor sensor wire motors? Super long extenders through huge cable braids?

I used just a old gigabit cable. Took out the wires, cut the plug on the motor and soldered the extension on. Than crimped a 2mm jst which fit to the vesc and good to go. They about 50cm long and no issues so far.

I just used 12 AWG wires as extension. Soldered male bullet connectors on one end and female on the other. No problem at all.

Additionally to the sensor wires  I used 10awg to extant my motor phase wires. Just like @janpom did. One side make other female and connect them.

Ah, right, sensor wires. I don’t have any on my eMTB.

Yeah the sensor wires are 6 wires I to maybe a molex connector. I’ll ask Psycho what the connector is called.
