Which side for single-motor drive?

If you wanted to build a single-motor RWD skateboard, is there a better side to put the motor on?

That would depend on how you stand on your board. If your body faces left, put the motor right side since you can balance when braking and moving forward aka heelside. If your body faces right, put it on the left side. You can try to do it the footside, but you’ll notice you’ll fall backwards when braking and pushing forward. So don’t do that.

Yes. Put it on the rear heelside. Don’t put it on the toeside.
