Silicone is super flexible and easier to bend, but I think he’ll be alright.

That makes no sense. @lowGuido can you help out here - i remember you had a diagram showing that cutting the inner wire is meaningless as it is basically the same as connecting the main cables for the series connection.
Flexibility mainly comes from the number of strands of the wire inside. If 2 wires have the same AWG then the wire with more strands is more flexible. Silicone is the material for covering the wire, it’s preferred because it is heat resistant and more flexible than, say, plastic.
I’m only speaking from experience here. People warned me about the exact same thing when I did my first build, and I chose not to cut the wire and charged anyways. Next thing I know, both batteries were billowing smoke and totally ruined
It just can’t be. Physically impossible. The red and black balance wires are just smaller versions of the main cables. It does not matter if you cut or not when you connect them in series. The reason why you had a short was that the order of your balance cables was wrong and did not match the battery configuration.
Edit: you can see it here http://esk8content.nyc3.digitaloceanspaces.com/uploads/db2454/original/2X/3/390522341ab49c16a594c814096cc17754b80175.png If you switch the left and right balance cables while not switching the main cables you will get your short. The correct order is crucial in a series configuration.
@Maxid I don’t have pictures but with all due respect you can’t determine that it was my mistake if you weren’t there. I know for sure that it wasn’t plugged in wrong because i had it zip tied and glued in place. Have never unplugged it at all and its charged other batteries just fine since the accident.
Thanks wasn’t sure what the difference was. But I do have both.
Either way @XvDarkVAngelvX the point is it’s a bad idea to charge in parallel. I’m sure there are enough experts around here to help with charging in series. I would recommend cutting the red wire, but it is your choice.
Sorry to sound like a d*ck but it has to be your fault - there is no other way. Have you seen the diagram? Also read this for example: http://www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/ebay-dangerous-jst-connector/871 Especially the last comment by @lowGuido: “you are right it makes absolutely no difference if its cut or not, but its just safer to be cut.” The safer part only meaning that it helps avoid confusion.
Hey, no issue here. I’m taking all notes and info seriously. That’s why I’m here. To learn. Thanks for the info.
Lol
Your double kick makes that wheelbase look tiny. Line everything up and get some pics, can’t wait to see it finished and feedback!
that hook up wire is stiff and hard to work with in my experience. High strand count silicone wire (such as superworm) is slightly more expensive but totally worth it. Its like wet spaghetti and just stuffs in wherever you put it without crimping and being retarded. It also doesn’t melt when you’re trying to tin the leads, you can practically lay the iron on it and it will barely leave a mark.
@popopopop it is tiny. I’m working with the matrix and it will fit but like what. I was talking to wify, but she insists on this tight layout. @longhairedboy said its like spaghetti . I’ve worked it out. @link5505 I would love to stretch it out like @RunPlayBack So what I have done. I’ve ordered another board like it and will build one on those specs. Tight but making it happen.
Hope use some Velcro to keep the batteries from sloshing around Lookin good !!
