Use a socket matched to the size of the outer race at least…brinelling

I’ve been in contact with him. Apparently they won’t fit my configuration.

I’ve done that more then a few times work pretty well but use a socket you don’t care about.

An arbor press is a good solution for setting bearing in hubs and motors.

Except that you would need access to one, if you don’t have specialist tool like a hydraulic/ arbour press then for these itty bitty wheels a 1/4" threaded rod with some nuts is enough.

Pass the threaded rod through the assembly, big ass washers and sensibly sized sockets matching the outer race. Then nuts on each end.

Tighten your nuts

A drill press can work, I also have a old printing hot foil press that is basically a arbor press with a heated head and dies to hold type that works too… (it is exactly the shape of the above arbor press with it’s early 1900’s patent no# cast in the steel)

Yeah actually forget it all, wail on it with that lump hammer ike your life depended on it

LOL, yeah, as crazy as it sounds, the worst part is that this is the advice given from a business that sells skateboard gear. “When all else fails, just smash it with a hammer”. I’ve always been under the impression that a bearing should never get hit with any sort of force, but then again, what do I know - I don’t sell the gear.

In fairness to Ted, he has probably changed so many bearings in his time that all he needs is a hammer for everything

I peronally have encourntered many of these magical people in my time, tap a hole? hammer, seized piston? hammer, reshoeing horse? hammer

They are out there with their powers, but forget they are special

That analogy reminds me of me and a pair of flush cuts. I use flush cuts for everything… Stripping wires…cutting wires, trimming pins, trimming nickel, opening packages…cutting my nails…

There are some special ones in the world. Lol

You can hit the outer ring of your bearing, no problem. Only thing you could destroy and probably did it anyways already, is the bearing seat in your spokes/hubs.

Worst. Ted talk. Ever.

Fact- You shouldn’t hit a bearing with a hammer. Fact- You shouldn’t hit hardened steel ever with a hammer. Fact- If customer service tells you to install a bearing into their aluminum hub with a hammer. Do it!
